Bio
Mr. Shyam Gadekar is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Pune with two decades of experience in the field. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Piping from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and an Executive MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai.
He began his career as a Sales and Marketing Engineer in a chemical company and later transitioned to a Research Engineer role, collaborating with IIT Mumbai on Oil and Gas R&D projects. Over the past 16+ years, Mr. Gadekar has accumulated substantial experience at Wabag, an Indian multinational corporation specializing in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) for water and wastewater treatment plants. Wabag is recognized as the world’s third-largest private water operator by Global Water Intelligence UK.
Throughout his career, He has worked with a diverse array of clients and consultants from the Oil and Gas, Power, and Utility sectors worldwide, including prominent organizations such as SIBUR and NIPIGAS in Russia, Saudi Aramco, Woods PLC, and Marafiq in Saudi Arabia, KNPC in Kuwait, Punj Lloyd in Qatar, Hyundai in Korea, Mott MacDonald in Oman, Bechtel in the US and France, and major Indian companies like Reliance, Tata Power, JSPL, Jacob, TCE, Fitchner, and EIL. His roles have provided him with extensive international experience across the USA, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
In his current position, he leads the International Engineering Center at Wabag, overseeing engineering efforts for global business units and external clients. Notable achievements include becoming the youngest person to head the International Engineering Center at Wabag in 2021, leading a pioneering project involving high-pressure CPU with resin transfer, and developing "Wabag Engineering Services," which provides engineering and consultancy services to markets in the US, UK, and the Middle East. He also heads "Idea Farm," a productivity enhancement portal within the company.
